Sensory workshop that sharpens your sense of soil

Maria Viftrup guides us through an Earthsense (Jordsans) treatment that challenges us to practice radical presence and shared care.

Do we humans have a sense of the earth? An ear for the voices of soil? An eye for myriads of microorganisms? An inner care that connects us to the death of mountains, the life of clay, and the eternal cycles of plants? Or is this sensitivity to the earth something we must actively cultivate?

Earthsense Spa invites you to a sensory experience that develops your sense of the earth through touch. Here, you can train your face to develop earth-courage, soil-recognition, tingling scents… Everything you come into contact with in this treatment is deeply connected to the earth.

Please note that receiving or giving an Earthsense treatment can be a beautiful, sensitive, intimate, and even overwhelming experience. Breathe. Allow yourself to be immersed. How does the earth’s intense presence feel?

ABOUT MARIA VIFTRUP

Maria Viftrup creates sensory experiences at the intersection of visual art and speculative design. Her works nurture curiosity and cultivate care for the smalL, the dusty, the sensory, and the seemingly insignificant.

Jordsans is created in collaboration with Jordens Hus – an association that communicates the life of soil at the intersection of art, agriculture, and science. Jordsans continually manifests as exhibitions, performances, and events.

Maria Viftrup is a graduate of Design School Kolding and has exhibited in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Germany, and has received several grants and awards, most recently from the Jens Ejnar & Johanne Larsen Foundation in support of young visual artists. In 2026, she is part of the exhibition The Hall of Failure at Kunsthal Aarhus.
