A disrupted memory – neither archive nor retrospective

In this performance in-between past and future, Sara Gebran is remixing material from the first three years of the performance series The Forests’ Imaginary Trials (2023–2025).

Elements of arts, ecology and law are blended, as the performance interweaves the three previous projects into a new and unsettling whole, where grief, accusations, and healing frequencies intertwine.

Fragments of film, dance, performance and poetry return displaced, repeated, and transformed. The work reimagines the past as a site of new encounters, generating memories remembered for the first time.

A gathering of accusations, our crimes against the more-than-human world move us through a clearing, sonic gratitude – a collective déjà-vu in order to gather tears, dreams, and prepare for the new performance sequence, WHEN FORESTS DREAM, premiering in September.

Duration: 75 min.

Sara Gebran Deja-VuABOUT SARA GEBRAN

Sara Gebran is a choreographer, dancer, and author who combines performance with video, sound, text, architecture, and environmental law through the dancing body. Her current research and performance series, The Forests’ Imaginary Trial (2023–2030), explores how to defend and protect the world’s forests. Through this, she aims to create a new platform for political and social representation through artistic practices, developed with all interested citizens in defense of nature and its rights. @saragebran
