WHAT Ritual/Presentation
Introduction to the Aesthetic Dimension
Join a performative presentation of Sisters Hope’s artistic method, Sensuous Learning, which has been developed and refined by the group since 2008. The performative moments will consist of interactive and explorative exercises and rituals, rooted in the concept of “The Poetic Self” – the idea that we all hold an inherent poetic core. On a performative walk through the landscape, we explore and express our personal poetic narratives and sensuous experiences.
Sisters Hope argues that the aesthetic dimension has been underprioritized since the Age of Enlightenment and the Industrial Revolution, where cognitive and rational perspectives were favored over sensuous experiences. Through their artistic practice, Sisters Hope seeks to revive the aesthetic dimension by focusing on how art can be integrated into everyday life.
ABOUT SISTERS HOPE
Sisters Hope is an award-winning performance group and movement driven by a fundamental ambition to make the sensuous and poetic accessible to as many people as possible—to ‘democratize the aesthetic.’ They operate at the intersection of art, activism, research, and education, with interactive and immersive performance art as their methodological foundation.
