SEIDLERS SENSORIUM – Metamorphosis
Meditative performance journey: choosing the straight or winding path through the landscape
Seidlers SENSORIUM guides us to slow down as we embark on a sensory journey along the river. The experience begins at the forest edge, where we encounter THE SONG of the river.
The storyteller helps us feel what it is like when the body cocoons itself, and flesh shifts and moves. We transform into water nymphs, gliding over the river’s life, and together we shape the river’s meandering path through the landscape.
Metamorphosis is a quiet, nurturing experience where nature, body, and story merge. All you need to do is be present, sense, and let yourself be carried along.
ABOUT SEIDLERS SENSORIUM / MARIKA SEIDLER
Marika Seidler is a visual, video, and performance artist. With curiosity, calmness, and care for nature, she invites us to sense and rediscover the natural world and the biological processes we are part of.
She creates site-specific video works, public art, and participatory performance walks in forests, lakes, rivers, and the sea. With performance walks like DROJ JORD, exploring the geological layers of the earth; VOKS SKOV, about the wood wide web; and Å VIL LIV, addressing the straightening and re-meandering of Danish rivers, Seidlers Sensorium has since 2013 focused on the ecological state of Danish nature under the motto: “The sensoriality of art restores our shared relationship with nature.”

The solo performance was created in 2021 at Deep Forest Art Land by SeiSEN, artistic director Marika Seidler, dramaturgical consultant Betina Birkjær, and performer Freja Schaumburg-Müller Pallesen. Metamorphosis is part of a longer Å VIL LIV performance walk on the straightening and re-meandering of Danish rivers, with four scenes created simultaneously at the same location with a larger team of co-creating and participating performance artists, dancers, singers, and musicians.
