SARA VILARDO – Siren
A performance walk that leads you into the unknown – and back to yourself
Sirene is an enchanting walk exploring the longing for a home – a place to belong.
Wearing headphones and a specially designed kit, and guided by the artist, we journey through the landscape inspired by The Odyssey. We travel “from home,” encountering places and situations that translate Odysseus’ trials into the contemporary world. Along the way, we discover that we can never return home unchanged – our experiences transform us.
The title Sirene refers to the mythical sirens who lured sailors – and Odysseus – astray. Today, sirens are also the sounds of war, emergency vehicles, and alarms: insistent calls that pull us out of whatever we are doing, impossible to ignore.
The journey through the landscape becomes a journey inward. What does “home” mean? When do we feel called away? And how can we return stronger?
Winner of Progetto CURA 2024 in Italy.
