KATINKA FOGH VINDELEV – elegier over jorden

A ritual performance concert about the Earth’s creative power

How can we restore a caring relationship with earth instead of depleting and exploiting it?

Hear Persephone’s haunting lament as she – goddess of the underworld and daughter of Demeter, the goddess of agriculture – returns to the world of the living to give birth. To bring life and regeneration to an Earth in crisis. As a call to the earth and its inherent power.

Over nine months, we follow her painful labour, as night frost, drought, and dust storms threaten the harvest. Persephone arrives with transformation – with hope and energy. And the lamentations slowly shift in character from darkness toward the budding promise of spring and new life.

The performance premiered at Glyptoteket in March 2026 and now takes shape as a solo walk through the landscape. The work is based on a new poetry collection, elegies of the earth, by writer and anthropologist Sofie Isager Ahl, and is created by composer, soprano, and performer Katinka Fogh Vindelev in collaboration with choreographer Marie Topp and scenographer Karin Gille, produced by Kind of Opera.

Katinka Fogh VindelevABOUT KATINKA FOGH VINDELEV

Katinka Fogh Vindelev is a classically trained soprano and composer with extensive experience as a performer both in Denmark and internationally. She works at the intersection of contemporary classical music, opera, and performance, and is known for creating new hybrid formats in which voice, body, and composition merge.

Katinka works consistently across aesthetic disciplines, approaching choreography, text, and scenography with curiosity and precision. This enables her to create works in which multiple artistic languages converge into a unified whole.

Within contemporary classical music, she has premiered a wide range of new works by composers such as Louise Alenius, Niels Rønsholdt, Lil Lacy, Signe Lykke, John Frandsen, Karsten Fundal, and Line Tjørnhøj. Within the core classical repertoire, Katinka made her debut in Monteverdi’s opera Orfeo at the Royal Danish Theatre in 2023. In 2021, she received the Léonie Sonning Talent Prize.

REVIEWS – from Glyptoteket

Divinely beautiful elegies… a wonderful staging in which Sofie Isager Ahl’s poems are given wings to fly, images to lean on, and a memorable corpus of flesh, blood, and hauntingly beautiful tones./ Sceneblog

…the work (demonstrates) in a captivating way how the performing arts can create a space for bodily experiences so immense that language can scarcely do anything but diminish them.” / Iscene
