An expedition through the layers of the earth
The stage resembles the beginning of an archaeological excavation. Grab a shovel and dig down into the hidden stories beneath our feet.
Here, we do not dig to extract. We dig to explore the living soil, shaped over time by billions of organisms.
Together with the three performers, we journey through the layers of the earth and into a world of secret spells, polyphonic songs, and unexpected creatures. An onion sings. A coat dances. A bone tells a story. Along the way, you are invited to share a meal in the soil itself.
What lies beneath our feet? Can we learn to listen to what lives below us – to the underground conversations between roots and microorganisms?
Here, the earth is not a resource to be exploited or possessed. DIGGING DEEP asks: Who has the right to the land? Who gets to dig? And what might the earth reveal about ourselves and the ways we live?

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Andrea Gunnlaugsdóttir, born in Iceland and based in Vienna, is a choreographer, dancer and performer. She is a graduate of the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance and has presented her works in Austria and abroad. She has collaborated with artists such as Doris Uhlich, Michikazu Matsune, Alix Eynaudi, Andrea Maurer and Veza Fernandez. Andrea Gunnlaugsdóttir received the Austrian Federal Chancellor’s Office’s START scholarship in 2015.

Claudia Lomoschitz, Vienna, works as a visual artist, choreographer and performer with installations that explore our perception. She is a graduate of the University of Hamburg, the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, where she now teaches. Her works have been shown at Kunstraum Niederösterreich, Tanzquartier Wien, brut Wien, Belvedere 21 and Kampnagel Hamburg. She received the DanceWeb scholarship in 2018 at ImPulsTanz in Vienna.

Crystal Wall works between performance and singing, poetry and ritual, folk culture and queerness. They relate (alpine) folk customs to queer practices and transform them into new performative rituals. Through embodied polyphony and collective storytelling, their work unfolds poetic soundscapes and luring chants. Since 2019, in collaboration with artist Andreea Vladut, they have engaged in performative research on mourning rituals and narratives of loss and vulnerability.
