Dutch company Wandelende Duinen, founded by Eva Koopmans, is in residency at Metropolis in July 2026 on Refshale\u00f8en as part of Metropolis’ partnership with IN SITU.<\/p>\n

Entangled Shorelines \u2013 a conversation piece<\/i> is a long-term social art practice connecting communities living along different shorelines where land and water meet. Through stories, images, conversations, and locally gathered materials, the project builds a growing Atlas of situated knowledge and perspectives.<\/p>\n

During the Metropolis residency, the artists will investigate how this Atlas can enter into dialogue with Copenhagen. Rather than creating a fixed performance, they will experiment with images and texts as independent interventions that unexpectedly appear throughout the city in a guerrilla-like manner. They are interested in what happens when these fragments circulate separately, inviting new encounters and interpretations.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the artists will explore how the Atlas itself can travel more sustainably: does it require the presence of the artist, or can it be activated by local communities? What kinds of instructions, scores, or protocols are needed for others to carry the work forward while remaining responsive to their own context?<\/p>\n

\"\"Wandelende Duinen<\/strong> is a socio-artistic practice founded by artist Eva Koopmans, exploring the relationships between people, landscapes, and the more-than-human world. Rooted in scenography and relational artistic practices, the work develops through encounters with communities, places, and ecological systems. Eva studied Scenography at the Academy of Arts in Groningen and completed a Master’s in Interrelational Artistic Practices at the Frank Mohr Institute. Between 2021 and 2024, she was part of the talent development programme Station Noord, creating work for festivals including Oerol, Over het IJ, and Explore the North. Wandelende Duinen is part of the INSITU Platform, and this residency marks the second residency within the network. The projects are process-driven, with each artistic outcome shaped by the specific relationships built in each place.<\/p>\n
