Having inherited a repertoire of 25 movements, they now pass them on to us. Like a dancing mirage, bodies gather, disperse, and reform in ever-changing patterns.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Charmatz\u2019s Terrain dancers then open a unique museum of dance\u2014without display cases or artefacts, but animated by living bodies. Pieces like <em>Aatt enen tionon<\/em> (1996), <em>enfant<\/em> (2011) created for the Cour d&#8217;honneur at the Festival d&#8217;Avignon, or <em>10000 gestes<\/em> (2017) have been shown around the world. His work has been the subject of retrospectives at MoMA (New York), Tate Modern (London), Festival d\u2019Automne (Paris).<\/p>\n<p>Since 2019, he has ceaselessly been questioning the foundations of his discipline with his company Terrain. From 2022 to 2025, Boris Charmatz was the director of Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch and developed, with Terrain, an artistic project between Germany and France.\u00a0 In 2024, he was the \u201cArtiste Complice\u201d at the 78th Festival d&#8217;Avignon. In 2026, he creates <em>Muette<\/em>, his new solo piece.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><em>20 dancers for the XX century:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Magali Caillet Gajan<\/strong><br \/>\nAfter making her debut in cabaret and French television in the 1980s, Magali Caillet Gajan began performing in 1989 for Angelin Preljocaj, Philippe Decoufl\u00e9, Mathilde Monnier, Odile Duboc, Carnets Bagouet and Boris Charmatz. She danced in the re-creations of\u00a0<em>Meubl\u00e9 sommairement\u00a0<\/em>directed by Fabrice Ramalingom,\u00a0<em>Jours \u00c9tranges<\/em>\u00a0(1990) and\u00a0<em>So Schnell<\/em>\u00a0(1992) directed by Catherine Legrand, three pieces by Dominique Bagouet, and for Ashley Chen in\u00a0<em>Unisson<\/em>\u00a0(2018) and\u00a0<em>Distance\u00a0<\/em>(2020). She has worked with choreographers Olivia Grandville, Maud Le Pladec, Fabrice Ramalingom, Phillip Connaugthon and director Myriam Marzouki. She is Boris Charmatz&#8217;s assistant on numerous projects. At Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, she assisted him on\u00a0<em>Wundertal \/ Sonnborner Strasse<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Libert\u00e9 Cath\u00e9drale<\/em>, and CERCLES.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><u>Interpretation<\/u><\/strong><strong>:<\/strong> <em>Mon truc en plume<\/em>\u00a0(1961) by Zizi Jeanmaire, theme from Champs-Elys\u00e9es (1988),\u00a0<em>souvenirs from Noces<\/em>\u00a0(1989) by Angelin Preljocaj,\u00a0<em>Publique<\/em>\u00a0(2004) by Mathilde Monnier,\u00a0<em>Jeux olympiques<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Shazam<\/em>\u00a0by Phillipe Decoufl\u00e9, extracts from\u00a0<em>Jours \u00e9tranges<\/em>\u00a0(1990) by Dominique Bagouet and\u00a0<em>Lev\u00e9e des conflits<\/em>\u00a0(2010) by Boris Charmatz.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Olga Dukhovna<\/strong><br \/>\nrecycles dance as others recycle objects: she recovers, transforms and diverts. Born in Ukraine and trained between Brussels (P.A.R.T.S.) and Angers (CNDC), she joined Boris Charmatz&#8217;s projects as a performer straight after her studies before developing her own work, fusing forgotten folklore with contemporary dance. Her pieces (<em>Swan Lake solo, Korowod, Hopak, Craw<\/em>l or a lecture performance on author\u00a0rights) deconstruct existing dances to reveal their political charge.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><u>Interpretation<\/u><\/strong><strong>: <\/strong>material inspired by Charlie Chaplin&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Modern Times<\/em>\u00a0(1936), Buster Keaton&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Grand Slam Dance<\/em>\u00a0(1936), Ukrainian folk dances, Anna Pavlova&#8217;s\u00a0<em>The Dying Swan<\/em>\u00a0(1905), and a secret bonus dance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><u><br \/>\n<\/u><strong>Mai Ishiwata<br \/>\n<\/strong>studied dance at the <em>Conservatoire<\/em>\u00a0national Sup\u00e9rieur de Musique et de Danse in <em>Paris<\/em>. In 2007, an encounter with choreographer C\u00e9cile Loyer introduced her to butoh, which she went on to explore with Ko Murobushi and Carlotta Ikeda, joining their company, Ariadone. She became involved in the field of psychiatry through her work with Claire Durand-Drouhin, and continued this work with children suffering from motor disorders alongside Eric Minh Cuong Castaing and his project _p\/\\rc__. She has collaborated on performances, installations and operas with Ashley Chen, Lilo Baur, Massimo Fusco, Jonathan Drillet and Marl\u00e8ne Saldana, as well as Olivia Grandville.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><u>Interpretation<\/u><\/strong>:\u00a0<em>Utt<\/em>\u00a0(1981) solo by Carlotta Ikeda, co-created by Carlotta Ikeda and Ko Murobushi, transmitted to Mai Ishiwata by Carlotta Ikeda in 2014.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Johanna Elisa Lemke<\/strong><br \/>\nwas born in Berlin and studied dance in Berlin and Amsterdam. She works as a choreographer, dancer, performer and actress in various art, film, music, theater and dance projects. In theater, she has choreographed alongside Rebekka David, Nora Abdel-Maksoud for works by Falk Richter, Thomas Ostermeier, Katie Michel and Wojtek Klemm. As a performer and dancer, she currently works with Boris Charmatz and Sol\u00e8ne Wachter. Her creation\u00a0<em>PunkDrumLove<\/em>\u00a0premiered in November 2024 at DockArt. Collaborations with artists from di\ufb00erent fields further include Ayat Najafi, Constanza Macras, Jeremy Shaw, Katie Mitchell, Ms-Schrittmacher, Club Guy and Roni, Marco Santi, Jens van Deale, Sultans Court, Felix Ruckert, Tino Sehgal, Isa Melzheimer, Frank Willens, Justin F. Kennedy and Emma Waltraud Howes, battle Royal, Helgi Jonsson, Robert Lippok, Bernadette la Hengst, the members of Team Volume and Guests.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><u>Interpretation<\/u><\/strong><strong>:<\/strong> Dances inspired by cult films and TV series from the 80s and 90s<em>:\u00a0Fame\u00a0(1980),<\/em>\u00a0<em>Flashdance<\/em>\u00a0(1983) and\u00a0<em>Twin Peaks<\/em>\u00a0(1990).<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><br \/>\nFilipe Louren\u00e7o<\/strong><br \/>\nDancer, choreographer and musician, Filipe Louren\u00e7o first trained in Andalusian Arabic music, playing with the El Albaycin orchestra for several years. At the same time, he practiced and taught traditional Maghreb dances. In 1997, he joined the Centre national de danse contemporaine d&#8217;Angers, and then began a collaboration with choreographer Catherine Diverr\u00e8s. He has also worked with Georges Appaix, Mich\u00e8le Noiret, Christian Rizzo, Boris Charmatz and Olivier Dubois. In 2016, he and his company signed\u00a0his first creation\u00a0<em>Homo Furens<\/em>, followed by\u00a0<em>Pulse(s)<\/em>\u00a0in 2018,\u00a0<em>Gou\u00e2l\u00a0<\/em>in 2021 and\u00a0<em>Cheb<\/em>in in 2023.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><u>Interpretation<\/u><\/strong>: excerpts from his solo\u00a0<em>Pulse(s)<\/em>\u00a0(2018), based on traditional dances of the Maghreb.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><br \/>\nFabrice Mazliah<\/strong><br \/>\ntrained in Geneva, Athens and Lausanne and then danced at the Nederlands Dans Theater before joining William Forsythe in 1997 at the Ballett Frankfurt and then the Forsythe Company until 2015. His own works (<em>Eifo Efi<\/em>\u00a0in 2013, with the MAMAZA collective\u00a0<em>In Act and Thought\u00a0<\/em>in 2015 for the Forsythe Company,\u00a0<em>Sheela Na Gig<\/em>\u00a0for the Ballet de l&#8217;Op\u00e9ra de Lyon in 2021,\u00a0<em>The Manufactured Series Duets<\/em>\u00a0#<em>1-6 Symposium<\/em>\u00a0in 2022,<em>The Ends of Things; The Things of Ends <\/em>for the Theater Basel in 2024&#8230;),are presented throughout the world, and he also collaborates with many other artists.
