The future danced in sand<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Imagine a future where cities have dissolved into sand. Past lives have been broken down into atoms, into grains of sand and reassembled into gigantic sand dunes.<\/p>\n

This possible future comes to life at Pr\u00f8vestenen. Here, the audience is given unique access to the otherwise closed-off industrial area, where a large sand dune has been created from recycled building materials from Copenhagen.<\/p>\n

7 people crawl, come together, separate and throw themselves around on the sand dune. Bodies and sand become one and form new, temporary landscapes. The dancers’ movements on the sand dune give associations to past civilizations and create space to speculate about possible futures.<\/p>\n

The sand dune could also have arisen from the ancient seabed beneath us \u2013 as a memory of the city’s early history. The sand dune contains small components from countless past lives and puts our cities and lives into perspective. SANDFLUGT (SAND FLIGHT) revisits a past and at the same time imagines a future where sand and soil particles take over landscapes and cities.<\/p>\n

Dramatic rumblings recall the Earth’s historical time with continental drift, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions and are taken over by the human voices of the choir.<\/p>\n

The performance is created by the renowned artists Ingri Fiksdal (NO) and Jonas Corell Petersen (DK) with soundscapes by Lasse Marhaug and a newly written choral work by Gaute T\u00f8nder. The world premiere takes place in Toronto, and the next stop is Copenhagen, where everything is adapted to the very special desert landscape of Pr\u00f8vestenen.<\/p>\n

ABOUT THE ARTISTS<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Ingri Fiksdal<\/strong> is a choreographer based in Oslo. She holds a PhD in artistic research from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts. In recent years, Ingri\u2019s work has led her into discourses of perspective and privilege. She is currently working on a number of projects that examine the posthuman and thus also knowledge and power hegemonies. Here, choreography is understood as a form of speculative fiction that can suggest complex and diverse understandings of the body, gender, species, ethnicity, knowledge and history. www.ingrifiksdal.com<\/a><\/p>\n

Jonas Corell Petersen<\/strong> is a Danish artist, director and playwright living in Norway. He holds a master\u2019s degree as a director from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts, Theatre Academy (2010). His performances have been performed at a number of theatres and festivals in Norway, Denmark and Europe. He works, among other things, with perspectives on deep history and the relationship between humans and nature. It includes new texts and performances that explore the paradoxes of the desire to be part of a community and the reluctance to let a community interfere with personal freedom. Jonas Corell Petersen will take up the position of theatre director of Rogaland Teater in Stavanger in 2027.<\/p>\n

ABOUT PR\u00d8VESTENEN & NORRECCO<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Norrecco A\/S was established in 2006 and is part of the Reconor Group, which also owns City Container A\/S. The company is headquartered at Pr\u00f8vestenen and operates reception facilities in both Copenhagen and Nordhavn, as well as environmental stations in Greve, Lynge, Odense, Kolding, Aarhus, Agerskov, Uge, and Hobro.<\/p>\n

Norrecco is among Denmark\u2019s most environmentally focused handlers of soil and construction and demolition waste. The goal is to convert waste materials into technically and environmentally qualified resources that can be part of a circular system. This system includes the handling of soil as well as the sorting of stones, rubble, concrete, and other fractions with full traceability and environmental control.<\/p>\n

Norrecco offers reception and treatment of non-hazardous waste. The company receives over 2 million tons of soil and 1 million tons of construction waste annually. Norrecco\u2019s facilities are technically built with sheet pile walls, fiber-reinforced concrete, and oil separators to prevent environmental impact. Additionally, all water from the sites is collected, treated in in-house treatment facilities, and reused for dust control on the premises.<\/p>\n

PR\u00d8VESTENEN\u2019S LOCATION<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Norrecco\u2019s location at Pr\u00f8vestenen in Copenhagen provides exceptional proximity to the city, reducing the need for long transport and increasing flexibility for both citizens and businesses. This makes it easy and efficient to dispose of waste resources, which are then recycled into new materials \u2013 benefiting both the environment and the city.<\/p>\n

Through our collaboration with Norrecco, we are opening up and offering the public a rare glimpse into life and work at Pr\u00f8vestenen. With the artwork Sandflugt<\/em> (Sand Drift), we draw attention to the global shortage of sand \u2013 one of the world\u2019s most overlooked resource crises \u2013 while also showcasing how Norrecco handles soil and waste with care and responsibility. Together, we create a narrative that unites art, sustainability, and recycling.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
