{"id":11669,"date":"2019-08-19T17:38:43","date_gmt":"2019-08-19T15:38:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.metropolis.dk\/sensing-the-city-interviews-with-artists-in-residence\/"},"modified":"2019-08-29T14:56:46","modified_gmt":"2019-08-29T12:56:46","slug":"sensing-the-city-interviews-with-artists-in-residence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.metropolis.dk\/en\/sensing-the-city-interviews-with-artists-in-residence\/","title":{"rendered":"Sensing the City \u2013 interviews with artists in residence"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In\nJuly 2019, six\ninternational artists lived and worked in Copenhagen as part of the\nmonth-long Metropolis Residency \u2013 Sensing the City. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here you can meet the six artists and hear their thoughts about working  within a site-specific context in Copenhagen as well as watch some footage from their work-in-progress presentations: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Metropolis Residencies 2019 - interview with Sarah Bostoen\" width=\"1060\" height=\"596\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/GffsWnic774?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption>Interview with Sarah Bostoen<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Sarah Bostoen,\nBelgium<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sarah\nis a freelance dancer, choreographer and driving force behind\ncompagnie\nMonica, a dance theatre company based in Ghent, Belgium.\nShe graduated from Fontys Dance Academy Tilburg in 2007 and is\ncurrently studying Arts&#8217; History and Theatre Sciences at University\nof Ghent in Belgium. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sarah focused on\nmapping and presenting the inner world and thoughts of people by\nusing so-called \u201d\u00e9criture automatique\u201d (automatic writing or\npsychography) and then walking with her participants to create a\ndistinction between \u201dwalk-thoughts\u201d and \u201dstanding\nstill-thoughts\u201d. She\nhas a master&#8217;s degree in Fine Arts from University\nof Applied Arts Vienna as\nwell as a master\u2019s\ndegree in Arts and Communication\/ Teaching Studies from\nthe\nAcademy of Fine Arts Vienna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During her\nresidency, Anne continued her research and artistic work about sleep,\nawareness, and silence. She studied at The Royal Danish\nAcademy of Fine Arts Schools of Design, Glasgow School of Art, and\nFatamorgana. She is also a member of the art collective FUKK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mette has an interest in how repetition and stimulation leaves footprints in our memory. With her performance she questioned the regular and daily paths we all take and how we move through architectural landscapes. She has trained and worked in the field of contemporary\ndance in various schools and workshops in Hungary and France. She has\ncompleted a master\u2019s\ndegree in Performing Arts at Paris VIII University, where her\nresearch focused on the relationship of contemporary dance to digital\narts with a particular interest in choreographic installations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fl\u00f3ra\nhas an interest in the sensual perception of dance and created a\nperformance centered around the physical and mental impressions of\nthe participants. For her performance, Fl\u00f3ra created a sensual\nlandscape to explore how imagination\ncan play a role in the perception of dance, and if we are capable of\nimagine the movements without seeing the dancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zigguratproject.com\"> www.zigguratproject.com<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Metropolis Residencies 2019 - interview with Caterina Moroni\" width=\"1060\" height=\"596\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9cm83brr4MQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption>Interview with Caterina Moroni<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Caterina Moroni,\nItaly<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Caterina\nis a performing artist and a cultural and social activist. She\nfocuses on art in public and unconventional space and on\nparticipatory processes. She graduated in Litterature and Art and\nwith a master&#8217;s degree in Communication and Business Management. She\nattended the European Professional School for artists directed by\nSoc\u00ecetas Raffaello Sanzio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During\nher residency, Caterina focused her research on the emergency of\nclimate change, the sea, and the younger generations. She invited the\naudience to participate in a ritual to desperately search for a sense\nof the future. The participants were involved in a dramaturgy of\npublic and private spaces, real and imaginary settings, in which\nphysical and mental spaces merged into a personal story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.caterinamoroni.it\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.caterinamoroni.it<\/a>&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Metropolis Residencies 2019 - interview with Jinyeob Lee\" width=\"1060\" height=\"596\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jDBnD40grSE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption>Interview with Jinyeob Lee<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Jinyeob Lee,\nSouth Korea<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jinyeob\nLee\nis a performance director from South Korea with a background in\nTheatre Design BA at Nottingham Trent University and MA Theatre Arts\nin 2006 in UK. She has worked as a set designer, a director and a\nproducer and in 2009 she started a company called \u201cElephants Laugh\u201d\nwhich specialize in creating site-specific performances which covers\nsocial issues and social minorities and challenge to develop\nindependent and free thinking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During\nher residency Jinyeob investigated the new ways in which to uncover\nand understand the relationship between the sociological context and\nthe sensuous experience of a specific place. Focusing on the visible\nand invisible layers of space, her performance was an exploration of\nhow different people experience reality in wildly different ways. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
