Metropolis Laboratory 2012

4 – 12 June 2012 // Overgaden Institute of Contemporary Art, Copenhagen

The fourth edition of Metropolis Laboratory was held in June 2012 with 33 speakers from the field of art, architecture, cultural planning and academic research. With a strong focus on social entrepreneurship the 3-day seminar presented and discussed projects dealing with:

  • City development and gentrification
  • Global issues and instant architecture
  • Festivals as a tool for changing the use of public spaces
  • Audio based storytelling with new technologies
  • Urban gaming and street culture

Besides a 3-day seminar, the Laboratory organized several workshops, where artists and architects developed ideas and concepts for public spaces in Copenhagen and carried out research for new projects for future Metropolis festivals.

Metropolis Laboratory 2012 was organized in collaboration with IN SITU – European network for creation in public space and with the support of EU Culture.
